The device (50) comprises a catheter (52) adapted for placement adjacent a wall of a blood vessel, body cavity, etc., for insertion into a blood vessel, body cavity, etc. The distal end (52a) of the catheter (52) is formed to expand in a helical coil shape in an unconstrained state, but is preferably linearized inside the second catheter (64).
