(57) Abstract: A system and method for exposing an optical medium to air for a predetermined period of time changes a pseudo-reflective material constituting the optical medium to prevent readability of the optical medium. At least a portion of the data encoder changes from a reflective state to an opaque state, at least in part, over time. With this system and method, the service life of the content is limited at a low cost and the return of the rental item is not required. |
