| abstract | To obtain an ink jet recording sheet having high color density, glossiness similar to a silver salt photograph, excellent image sharpness and no bronzing during printing when printed by an ink jet printer. In an ink jet recording sheet having a colorant receiving layer on a support, the colorant receiving layer is obtained by crosslinking and curing a coating layer coated with a coating solution containing at least fine particles, a water-soluble resin and a crosslinking agent. The cross-linking curing is performed simultaneously with (1) when the coating solution is applied to form a coating layer, or (2) during the drying of the coating layer formed by applying the coating solution. At any time before the layer exhibits reduced-rate drying, it is carried out by applying a basic solution having a pH of 8 or higher to the coating layer, and the colorant receiving layer contains a mordant, and 50 to 50% of the mordant. 100% by mass is a water-soluble cationic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 or less.
