abstract A voltage converter capable of accurately estimating the temperature of cooling water is provided. A diode Dd1 is arranged close to an NPN transistor Q1. Diode Dd2 is arranged close to NPN transistor Q2. The voltage sensor 11 detects the voltage V1 across the diode Dd1 and outputs it to the control device 30. The voltage sensor 12 detects the voltage V2 across the diode Dd2 and outputs it to the control device 30. Control device 30 detects the temperature of NPN transistor Q1 based on voltage V1 when boost converter 13 performs the boost operation, and estimates the detected temperature as temperature Tw of the cooling water of boost converter 13. Control device 30 detects the temperature of NPN transistor Q2 based on voltage V2 when boost converter 13 is performing the step-down operation, and estimates the detected temperature as temperature Tw of the cooling water of boost converter 13.
