The present invention provides methods and compositions that allow for efficient delivery of nucleic acids to cells, including solid organs, such as mammalian hearts. The methods and compositions allow for efficient gene transfer and subsequent expression to most cells throughout a solid organ such as the heart. The methods and compositions of the invention provide for increased vascular permeability, preferably enhancing gene transfer to target cells without significantly degrading or damaging the endothelial cell layer. |
