Method for producing chlorite and chlorine dioxide |
abstract |
Ion exchange produces chlorite from chlorite precursors, chlorate precursors, or a combination of both. At the same time, by removing unwanted cations from the solution and adding hydrogen ions to the solution, the ion exchange material simplifies the production of chlorite. The catalyst produces chlorine dioxide in a controlled manner from chlorous acid. Chlorine dioxide can be produced after or simultaneously with the production of chlorous acid. Chlorous acid can be produced by ion exchange or by conventional methods to catalyze the reaction of chlorous acid to chlorine dioxide. The use of ion exchange materials allows the purification of chlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions without decomposing the chlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions, stabilizing unwanted ions in the chlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions. It can be exchanged for desired ions, such as ions, and the pH of chlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions can be adjusted. |
