PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin material having an extremely small refractive index change with respect to temperature and an optical element using the same. SOLUTION: Inorganic fine particles having an average particle diameter of 1 nm or more and 30 nm or less are dispersed in a host material made of an organic polymer, and the absolute value | dn / dT | of the temperature change rate of the refractive index is expressed by the following formula (A). A thermoplastic resin material that satisfies the conditions specified in 1. wherein the inorganic fine particles are surface-treated.
