abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an article having a porous mesh region (42,140). [Solution] A reticulated core element is disposed in a molding shell having a shape that at least partially corresponds to the shape of the gas turbine engine blade (20) to form the engine blade (20). The molten metal material is cast into the shell so as to at least partially penetrate the reticulated core element, and the molten metal material is solidified. The shell and mesh core element are removed to break, forming an engine blade (20) with one or more gas permeable porous mesh regions (42, 140). Thereby, cooling property improves.
