abstract | A method for producing a polymer nanocomposite composition. (A) A melted polyamide having an intrinsic viscosity of 1 or less and a nanofiller are mixed to disperse the nanofiller in the polyamide, and (b) the resulting mixture is subjected to polymerization conditions. A polyamide is polymerized to form a polymer nanocomposite composition. The intrinsic viscosity of the polyamide should be 0.9 or less. Step (a) is preferably a single screw or twin screw extruder. Step (b) may be in a molten state or a solid state. The polymerization in step (b) is carried out with a catalyst and / or with an extruder having a vacuum zone. The catalyst may be the remainder of the catalyst used during polyamide production. The nanofiller is preferably a laminated or layered silicate. Advantages = (1) A (co) polyamide nanocomposite with fully dissociated nanofillers is obtained, (2) Viscosity can be selected, (3) Nanofillers are well dispersed, (4) Ordinary extruder or mixing (5) The nano filler can be completely dissociated during the process.
