abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic field generator capable of changing a magnetic field intensity in a wide range and generating a magnetic field having a desired magnetic field intensity with a simple configuration. A magnetic field generation device includes a pair of magnetic pole pieces (12a, 12b) arranged to face each other with a gap (G) therebetween, and a yoke (14) holding the magnetic pole pieces (12a, 12b). The yoke 14 includes a pair of plate-like yokes 20a and 20b that hold the pair of magnetic pole pieces 12a and 12b, and a pair of coupling yokes 22a and 22b that magnetically couple the pair of plate-like yokes 20a and 20b. Including. A plurality of insertion portions 30 are provided between the coupling yokes 22 a and 22 b, and permanent magnets 28 are inserted into the insertion portions 30. The amount of the permanent magnet 28 inserted into each insertion portion 30 is changed by rotating a screw 52 a screwed into the plate-like member 40 and a screw 52 b screwed into the plate-like member 46.
