An apparatus or method for replacing a degenerated nucleus pulposus with a biocompatible graft derived from a collagen scaffold or porcine small intestine submucosa (SIS). A method and corresponding apparatus for augmenting or replacing the nucleus pulposus in a minimally invasive manner having small intestine submucosa (SIS) is disclosed. This method relates to the injection of material that augments or replaces the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc with small intestinal submucosa (SIS) that helps maintain the height of the disc and promotes regeneration of the original nucleus pulposus structure. The device is configured with an elongated shape such as a strip, cord, string, tube, roll or pellet. These may comprise bioactive factors and seeded cells. [Selection] Figure 1 |
