abstract | [PROBLEMS] To obtain an excellent Abbe number in a medium refractive index material having a refractive index of about 1.6, and further to use a homopolymerizability that can be sufficiently cured with a small amount of catalyst, which is a feature of an episulfide compound, and is about 1.6. An optical material having a refractive index in the range and a high Abbe number is provided. An amine having a heterocyclic ring, a phosphine, a quaternary ammonium salt, a quaternary phosphonium salt, a tertiary sulfonium salt, a secondary iodonium salt using a compound represented by the following formula (1) as a curing catalyst: The above problems are solved by an optical material obtained by polymerization and curing using at least one compound selected from peroxides and azo compounds.
