abstract In a multilayer optical recording medium, the recording power of recording light can be set appropriately. When setting the recording power of recording light to be irradiated onto the information recording surface of a multilayer optical recording medium capable of forming a plurality of information recording surfaces, the light incident surface side is more than the information recording surface to be evaluated. When all of the information recording surfaces to be arranged are in a low transmittance state, the recording power of the information recording surface to be evaluated is evaluated, while the information recording surface to be evaluated is disposed on the light incident surface side. When all of the information recording surfaces are in a high transmittance state, the recording power of the information recording surface to be evaluated is evaluated, and the reliance information for recording power setting is determined based on these recording powers. did.
