abstract | In a sulfuric acid production facility including a gas purification step, a sulfuric acid production step, and a tail gas treatment step, sulfuric acid is produced from waste gas discharged from a smelting facility using a smelting furnace and a converter. Provided is a sulfuric acid production facility and an operation method thereof capable of simplifying the operation of feeding diluted air accompanying the start and stop of blowing of a converter and improving the operability thereof. SOLUTION: A sulfuric acid production facility has an automatic valve 9 and a dilution air 13 provided with a control mechanism 14 for changing the opening degree of a pipe connecting the mist cot rel 3 and a drying tower 4 by a start / stop signal of converter blowing. The intake valve 10 is provided, and its operation method is such that the opening degree of the automatic valve at the time of converter blowing is a normal position, and when the blowing of the converter is stopped, the diluted air intake valve has a predetermined opening degree by a blowing stop signal. As described above, the opening degree of the automatic valve is adjusted. On the other hand, when the blowing of the converter is started, the diluted air intake valve is closed by the blowing start signal, and the opening degree of the automatic valve is returned to the normal position.
