Provided are a piston and a diesel engine capable of suppressing generation of a portion where stress is higher than that of others in a crown member of the piston. A piston 10 has a substantially disc shape, a top portion 22 constituting a piston top surface 21 and a back surface 23 on the back side thereof, and a back surface 23 of the top portion 22, and a piston rod 50 having a substantially cylindrical shape. It has a middle support portion 30 that extends to the side and is connected to the piston rod 50, and a cooling hole 70 through which cooling oil can flow is formed in the middle support portion 30. The cooling oil flowing through the cooling hole 70 cools the vicinity of the root portion 22 a of the top portion 22 where the middle support portion 30 protrudes. [Selection] Figure 3 |
