| abstract | A method for updating a wireless application is provided. The system has a network service area that uses multiple networks to provide wireless coverage. The application server is connected to one or more networks and is used to communicate with local applications running on wireless devices within the network service area. These wireless devices also operate standard low-level processes that provide basic connectivity and information transfer, which provide network identification values. The local application monitors this network identification value and generates an alert when it changes, and this alert is sent to the application server. Since the alert may include information about the new network, the application server is updated to know on which network the wireless device is operating. |
