An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a positive planographic printing plate material and a planographic printing plate material package that can be produced with high productivity. A photosensitive layer containing an alkali-soluble resin having a phenolic hydroxyl group and a near-infrared absorbing dye having an absorption maximum at a wavelength of 700 to 1200 nm is provided on an aluminum support, and then manufactured by heat treatment. A positive planographic printing plate material, wherein the atmosphere of the printing plate material during the heat treatment is an acidic atmosphere having a pH of 3 to 6.
