| abstract |
A package structure and a method for packaging an interferometric modulator. An interferometric modulator 830 is formed on an upper portion of a transparent substrate 810. The backplane 820 is bonded to the transparent substrate 810 using a seal 840, and the interferometric modulator is exposed to the surrounding environment through an opening 850 in the backplane or seal.
