The present invention provides a nucleic acid molecule that encodes a polypeptide composed of two methionine residues as first and second N-terminal amino acid residues linked to mature eukaryotic histones by peptide bonds. The invention further relates to vectors comprising the nucleic acid molecules, hosts transformed with the vectors, polypeptides encoded by the nucleic acid molecules, and pharmaceutical and diagnostic compositions. The invention also relates to the use of the nucleic acid molecules, vectors, hosts and polypeptides of the invention in the manufacture of compositions for the treatment of diseases. The present invention further relates to methods and kits for testing the presence of nucleic acid molecules or polypeptides in a sample. |
