Wound closure and wound dressing |
abstract |
There is a clear need for a wound dressing and treatment system that can apply therapeutic negative pressure without increasing adverse side effects on open wounds. There is currently no known existence of such a wound dressing or treatment system. The present invention aims to meet this need. A first porous pad including at least two layers includes a polymer foam having cells communicating with each other, and a sheet of two flexible plastic films having a plurality of through holes on the surface thereof. A first sheet is placed between the wound surface and the pad, and a liquid impermeable film covering is placed on the second porous pad above the first porous pad. The film-like covering member has an adhesive periphery for intimate contact with the skin area surrounding the wound, and the connecting means extends through the film-like covering member and is in fluid communication with the second porous pad; Connect to a negative pressure source to facilitate exudate flow from the wound.
