The present invention provides certain trisubstituted aryl and heteroaryl derivatives of formula (I) which are modulators of metabolism. Accordingly, the compounds of the present invention are useful in the prevention or treatment of metabolic disorders and their complications (eg, diabetes and obesity). One aspect of the present invention pertains to pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one compound of the present invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
