A catheter (10) for delivering a drug to an injection site on the wall of a patient's body lumen, with an elongate shaft having a needle insertion lumen (12) slidably receiving a needle (13) therein (11) and an expandable member (15) on the distal shaft portion that takes a folded state and a radially expanded state. In the radially expanded state, the expandable member supports the shaft in a position spaced from the wall of the body lumen, and the needle is expandable in the extended state. A portion of the member is slid through the port (14) spaced from the wall of the body lumen when maintaining a position of the port portion of the shaft within the body lumen. Exit the needle insertion lumen. The expandable member typically has an open wall, spiral, or notched structure that provides a perfusion path along the expandable member. |
