【Task】 A method for treating a mixture containing microorganisms using readily biodegradable carbon compounds (RBCs) containing one or more volatile fatty acids (VFAs) is provided. In the process of concentrating the mixture containing microorganisms, phosphorus and magnesium are released and taken out, thereby producing a liquid having a high content of phosphorus and magnesium and a processing mixture having a low content of phosphorus and magnesium. When this treatment mixture is put into an anaerobic digester, ammonia is formed, but the formed ammonia hardly binds to phosphorus or magnesium. Next, a mixture having a high ammonia concentration is dehydrated to produce a liquid having a high ammonia content. A struvite is formed by combining and reacting the produced liquid with a high content of ammonia with a liquid with a high content of phosphorus and magnesium. In a preferred embodiment, VFAs are formed in-situ via an upstream integrated fermentation-concentration (UFAT) process and added to the waste sidestream. Thereby, phosphorus and magnesium contained in the waste side stream are stripped. In another preferred embodiment, the available struvite product is recovered. [Selection] Figure 2A |
