The present invention provides a monomer composition comprising an aromatic halosulfonyl isocyanate having the following structure I (Formula I): [Chemical 1] In the formula, “m” is an integer of 2 to 5, “n” is an integer of 1 to 5, Ar is a C 3 to C 40 aromatic group not containing an aliphatic carbon-hydrogen bond, and X Is a halogen. Monomer compositions comprising aromatic halosulfonyl isocyanate I are useful for producing polymeric materials that are also useful as membranes provided by the present invention.
