abstract | In a film-type dye-sensitized solar cell by a low-temperature film-forming method substantially free of a binder, a photoelectrode layer having high photoelectric conversion efficiency is provided without providing a new process such as press treatment. A dye-sensitized type having a photoelectrode layer, an electrolyte layer, and a counter electrode layer made of a dye-sensitized porous semiconductor fine particle and dicarboxylic acid in this order on a conductive substrate. In the photoelectric conversion element, the dicarboxylic acid is a saturated aliphatic or saturated alicyclic dicarboxylic acid having 1 to 4 linear carbon atoms between carbonyl carbons. Carboxylic acid is introduced into the photoelectrode layer 1 by dipping in an acid alone solution or an acid dye mixed solution, or by addition to a porous semiconductor fine particle dispersion.
