titleOfInvention | POLYMER AND NANOGEL MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AND USING THE SAME |
abstract | A composition comprising a block copolymer of the following formula [A] -B- [Q], wherein [A] is a polymer having an affinity for a substrate and B is optionally A substituted linking group comprising a polyvalent linking group having a molecular weight of 1000 g / mol or less, and [Q] is derived from copolymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a polyfunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer; Compositions are provided that comprise a semi-crosslinked, non-gelling polymer. This block copolymer is cross-linked through the [Q] segment, but is not gelled macroscopically. The [Q] segment is hydrophilic and has a degree of polymerization in the range of about 10 to about 10,000. The [A] segment is located at at least one end of the block copolymer comprising about 1 to about 200 repeating units. The block copolymer is associated with a surface, such as a silicone hydrogel, containing at least one hydrophobic site via a linear substrate-associative segment. The polymer may be incorporated into the silicone hydrogel raw material formulation or, after formation, may be contacted with the silicone hydrogel. |
