abstract | The out-of-cavity harmonic generator system can generate a third harmonic output beam that is circular and free of astigmatism from a diffraction-limited input fundamental radiation that is nominally circular and free of astigmatism. The system can include a second harmonic generation crystal. The size of the input fundamental beam is expanded in the non-walk-off direction of the second harmonic generation crystal at the input surface of the second harmonic generation crystal. The high-order harmonic generation crystal has an output surface directed to an incident angle inclined in the non-walk-off direction of the high-order harmonic generation crystal, and the size of the output harmonic beam is reduced in that direction. The expansion of the input fundamental beam at the input surface of the second harmonic crystal is stronger than the reduction of the third harmonic beam at the output surface of the higher order harmonic crystal. |
