An adaptable tape excellent in uniformity of fiber spacing and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. A flexible tape is widely provided that includes a plurality of fibers embedded in a matrix material to form a tow row aligned in one direction, wherein four adjacent fibers in the tape define the inter-fiber distance. . The matrix material contains filler particles in a dispersed state between adjacent fibers in the tape. In one embodiment, the median particle size of the filler particles defines the interfiber distance, wherein the interfiber distance is from about 0.75 to about 1.1 times the median particle size. In another embodiment, the median particle size of the filler particles has a relationship with the inter-surface distance between adjacent fibers, and the ratio of the inter-surface distance between adjacent fibers to the median particle size is about 0.3: 1 to about 1: 1.
