Formulations and methods for their use are provided for biocompatible delivery of zinc protoporphyrin (ZnPP). In some embodiments, ZnPP is formulated for oral delivery. The formulation can include fine particles of ZnPP, wherein the ZnPP active agent is mixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizer that provides increased stability to acidic conditions and improved solubility at neutral pH, or Coated with the stabilizer. |
