NANOS knockout to excise germline cells |
abstract |
The present invention provides livestock animals and methods for generating recipient animals for spermatogonial stem cell transplantation via regulation of the NANOS gene. In one embodiment, the resulting male lacks functional germ cells but retains functional somatic cells and has insertions or indels that inactivate or regulate NANOS gene activity so that females have the ability to reproduce Gene editing is performed to create animals. These males can be transplanted with donor spermatogonial stem cells and used for breeding. [Selection] Figure 1 |
