abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing contaminants from a process stream. A mesh material is used for the purpose of filtering the process stream. The reticulated material also facilitates flow distribution of the process flow within the process equipment. Such a reticulated material can be packed so that there are gaps between a number of the reticulated materials, but the gaps can be varied to improve filtration and flow distribution. The filtration method also provides a method for removing contaminants exiting the process equipment. The method can be used in a variety of process flows and process equipment. Such reticulated materials can include ceramics, metallic materials and chemical vapor deposition elements. Such reticulated materials can have various shapes and sizes and can also be catalytically active. [Selection] Figure 1
