The present invention provides a polymer material having a relatively low Tm, a relatively high Tg, and a relatively high crystallinity, and a method for producing the polymer material. A polymer material having a repeating unit of the formula: -O-Ph-O-Ph-CO-Ph- and a repeating unit of the formula: -O-Ph-Ph-O-Ph-CO-Ph- is produced. In which each of a mixture of at least one dihydroxybenzene compound and dihydroxybiphenyl compound (molar ratio 65:35 to 95: 5) is combined with at least one dihalobenzophenone in the presence of sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate.
