abstract | A water repellent and a coloring method for easily adjusting the degree of coloring of a specific part of a medium are provided. The water-repellent agent has a bond part for forming a bond with the surface of the media, and is a linear hydrocarbon moiety having the longest chain length counted from the carbon bonded to the bond part. A substituted or unsubstituted chain hydrocarbon compound having 7 to 100 carbon atoms is contained as an active ingredient. The method of coloring the media is based on the application process in which this water repellent is applied to a part of the media and the degree of coloration in the application area of the media where the water repellent is applied.
