abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a heat exchange type reformer capable of improving energy efficiency with a compact configuration. In a reformer, a heat exchange section is provided for an inlet section of a reforming layer. The heat exchange section 47B allows the outflow gas flowing out of the outlet section 46 of the combustion layer 30B to flow. The heat exchange section 47B can heat the reforming raw material gas flowing through the inlet section 42 and flowing into the heat exchange section 41 by flowing the high-temperature outflow gas flowing out of the outlet section 46. Thereby, energy efficiency can be improved. Further, since the heat exchange part 47B is provided for the inlet part 42 which is a part of the reformer 30, the size of the system is larger than when a heat exchange part is provided outside the reformer 30.
