Provided is a control device for an internal combustion engine that can suppress a decrease in controllability in controlling exhaust components as desired due to blow-back. A CPU calculates an amount of air sucked into a combustion chamber, which is blown back into an intake passage by a time when an intake valve is closed. The CPU 62 increases the injection amount when the amount of air to be blown back increases from the previous fuel cycle as compared with the case where the amount of air to be blown back does not change. Further, at this time, when the alcohol concentration in the fuel to be injected is high, the CPU 62 makes the increase amount larger than when the alcohol concentration is low.
