PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating wastewater containing sewage sludge. SOLUTION: At least a part of sewage sludge contained in wastewater (0) is subjected to hydrolysis (8). Hydrolysis (8) is carried out as thermal hydrolysis. Drying (19) is performed after the step of hydrolysis (8). Drying (19) is drying that operates in the steam region by overpressure. At least a part of the steam generated during the drying (19), which operates in the steam region due to the overpressure, is supplied (20) to the part of the sewage sludge in the thermal hydrolysis (8).
