PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container designed to safely store radioactive debris. A container 90 has an overpack having a long housing extending between an upper end and a lower end. The basket is provided inside the overpack. The basket has a long canister. Each canister has a long housing that extends between the top and bottom ends. At least one of the canisters has an insert with multiple elongated perforated tubes containing radioactive debris. Porousness allows the flow of gas, primarily air, through the sidewalls by increasing the exposed surface area of the debris, thus allowing the evaporation of liquids, primarily water, from radioactive debris.
