PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing, suppressing or treating surgical site infection related to surgery. SOLUTION: A) a biocompatible polymer, (b) a first lipid component containing at least one sterol non-covalently bonded to the biocompatible polymer, and (c) a fatty acid moiety of at least 12 carbons. A biodegradable substrate impregnated or completely or partially surface-coated with a matrix composition comprising a second lipid component comprising at least one phospholipid having and (d) a pharmaceutically active agent.
