abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flux and a solder paste capable of sufficiently suppressing heating dripping during reflow. A flux containing a rosin, a solvent, a thixotropic agent and an activator is adopted. The thixo agent contains a compound represented by the general formula (1) and polyamide, and the polyamide is a condensate of one or more selected from an aliphatic carboxylic acid and a hydroxy group-containing aliphatic carboxylic acid and an amine. The temperature of the heat absorption peak is 120 ° C. or higher and 200 ° C. or lower. In the general formula, R 11 represents a hydrocarbon group having 11 to 30 carbon atoms. R 0a represents a hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen atom having 12 to 31 carbon atoms. R 0b represents an n-valent hydrocarbon group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms.
