abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a color filter for a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device, which achieves both transmissive color display with excellent lightness and saturation and reflective color display with excellent lightness and saturation free of darkening. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the color filter for the semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device includes steps of: forming, on a transparent substrate, a film of a photosensitive colored composition comprising a photopolymerization initiator, a polymerization inhibitor, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a transparent resin and a colorant, wherein the ratio of the weight (Q) of the polymerization inhibitor to the weight (I) of the photopolymerization initiator is 30 to <500; and forming a colored layer for a light transmission area and a colored layer for a light reflection area by irradiating the film with ultraviolet radiation via a photomask and developing the film, wherein the photomask has a full light shielding area, a light semi-shielding area corresponding to the formation of a colored layer for a light reflection area and having a specific light transmittance, and a full transmission area corresponding to the formation of a colored layer for a light transmission area.
