| abstract | <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent water leaked from a pump chamber side from penetrating to a timing train chamber side even in the event of rupture of a water seal member in a water pump for an internal combustion engine including first and second case members which cooperatively form a pump case, in which the first and second case members are fastened together through the endless water seal member surrounding a pump chamber, a suction passage and a discharge passage while forming the pump chamber, the suction passage and the discharge passage between the both, and the pump case is mounted on an engine body with a part thereof facing the timing train chamber. <P>SOLUTION: A groove 62 which forms an air layer 61 surrounding the water seal member 59 from the outside and communicating with the outside of the engine body 11 between the first and second case members 12 and 43 is provided on at least one of connecting surfaces of the first and second case members 12 and 43. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
