abstract | An object of the present invention is to cool a heat transfer liquid in a short time to a cryogenic temperature at which a cooling target can be sufficiently cooled without causing breakage of a compressor, emergency stop of a refrigeration circuit, and waste of energy. A hydrogen gas cooling device 1 cools a condenser 22 of a low temperature side refrigeration circuit 20 by an evaporator 14 in a high temperature side refrigeration circuit 10 and brine (heat medium liquid) by an evaporator 24 in the low temperature side refrigeration circuit 20. A refrigeration unit 2 having a binary refrigeration circuit configured to be capable of cooling, and a brine pipe 5 constituting a brine circulation path for circulating brine between the refrigeration unit 2 and the heat exchanger 3 for cooling hydrogen gas, The high temperature side refrigeration circuit 10 includes an evaporator 16 that can cool the brine, electromagnetic valves 13a and 15a that adjust the amount of refrigerant supplied to the evaporators 14 and 16, and electronic expansion valves 13b and 15b.
