abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title compsn. capable of storing a large amt. of heat, by mixing Na 2 HPO 4 with Na 2 S 2 O 3 and water. n CONSTITUTION: Na 2 HPO 4 .12H 2 O is mixed with Na 2 S 2 O 3 .5H 2 O and water in such proportions that the amts. of Na 2 S 2 O 3 and water are 40W30mol% 60W70mol% and 89.5W91.5mol%, respectively, each based on the total weight of the compsn. If necessary, a nucleating agent (e.g.,borax) is added to the mixture to prepare a heat storing material having a melting temp. of 23°C, a latent heat of 25kcal/g or more and suitable for regulating the temp.
