titleOfInvention Production of ferromagnetic iron oxide containing cobalt
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject magnetic iron oxide having excellent stability with time elapsed, fatty acid adsorbing property, orientation property, distribution of inversion magnetic field, by furthermore coating magnetic iron oxide powder coated with metallic compd. contg. Co and ferrous iron, obtd. by treating magnetic iron oxide powder under a specified condition, with one or more kinds of compds, of Si, Al, Ti, P, etc. n CONSTITUTION: The surface of magnetic iron oxide powder is coated with the metallic compds. contg. Co and ferrous iron, by adding an aq. soln. contg., e.g., Co salt (e.g., CoCl 2 ) and ferrous iron salt (e.g., FeCl 2 ) to a slurry dispersed with the magnetic iron oxide powder, thereafter, by adding an aq. alkaline soln. and by treating at room temp. - 100°C for 0.1-10hr, preferably in an inert gas atmosphere in the liq. regulated the concn. of OH group to 0.01-3mol/l, and then, the aq. dispersion is regulated its pH value to 6.5-9.5 and treated by heating at 80-160°C. Then, the obtd. heat-treated magnetic iron oxide contg. Co, etc., is further treated at room temp. - boiling point with an aq. soln. of one or more kinds of surface-treating compds. selected among Si, Al, Ca, Ti, V, Mn, Zn and P compds. and, as occasion demands, aged to coat with these compds. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
