titleOfInvention Thermal transfer printer
abstract PURPOSE:To enable high speed image printing to be performed by obtaining an output image of high quality by a method wherein influence of heat history is reduced by establishing a pressure sensitive electric conductive layer on a resistant layer of an ink film. CONSTITUTION:An ink film 210 is composed of three layers such as an ink layer 211 consisting of wax ink, a resistant layer 212 to which electric resistivity of velocity is given by dispersing carbon in polyethylene terephthalate, and a pressure sensitive electric conductive layer 213. Among recording electrodes 221 of a recording head 220, a set of adjacent ones forms a pair, one electrode is switched to high potential, and the other electrode is switched to low potential. A current is made thereby to flow to the resistant layer 211 between both electrodes via the pressure sensitive electric conductive layer 213 to be heated, and ink of the ink layer is molted to be transferred onto photographic printing paper 230. Consequently, since heat generated in the resistant layer is not directly transmitted to a photographic printing head, an output image of high quality having little heat history can be obtained, and photographic printing speed can be also increased.
