abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a photoreactive thin-film polymer capable of being used for making various electronic devices and as an electron beam resist material in microlithography, etc., by forming a mixed monomolecular film comprising a mixture of a cyclobutane ring-containing polymer and an amphiphilic compound and laying up the films. n CONSTITUTION: A photoreactive thin-film polymer is obtained by making a build-up film by repeating an operation comprising forming a stable mixed monomolecular film on a liquid surface such as a water surface and transferring this film to a substrate by the vertical immersion process. This polymer can be reversibly depolymerized when irradiated with light, so that it can be used as an optical recording material and for making various devices, etc., by virtue of this property. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
