abstract PURPOSE: To perform highly accurate measurement even in an adverse environment by vibrating a sensor element at the time of non-measurement to shake off dust and a waterdrop. n CONSTITUTION: An oscillator 8 repeates alternately an output period wherein measurement is executed and a stop period wherein the measurement is not executed. Based on an output signal outputted from the oscillator 8 in said output period, a sensor signal processing circuit 11 processes a sensor signal from a sensor element 2 and executes a measuring operation. a prescribed time after a fall of the output signal of the oscillator 8, that is, within the stop period of the oscillator 8, a start signal generator 9 generates a pulse signal. Next, a drive signal generator 10 supplies a drive signal to a vibrator 3 to vibrate the same while it is supplied with the output signal from the generator 9, that is, in the stop period wherein the measurement is not executed, and the element 2 is vibrated by the vibration thereof. Accordingly, the element 2 is vibrated forcibly at the time of non-measurement, and by an acceleration generated by this vibration, carbon black or a waterdrop sticking on the element 2 is shaken off therefrom.
