titleOfInvention Production of polymeric peroxy ester, free radical generator and vinyl polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the subject new polymer composed of two specific kinds of constituent units alternately bonded at random, producible easily, having high safety and stability, highly soluble in vinyl monomers and useful as a polymerization initiator for high temperature polymerization. n CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer is a compound composed of the units of formula I and formula II (R is -CH 2 CH 2 -, -C≡C-, etc.) alternately bonded with each other by head-to-head or heat-to-tail random bonding style at a molar ratio (I:II) of 6:4 to 4:6 and having a molecular weight of 1,000-15,000. The polymer is preferably produced by reacting an acid chloride of formula III (e.g. tetrahydrophthaloyl chloride) with a hydroperoxide of formula IV (e.g. 2,5-dimethylhexane-2,5-dihydroperoxide) in a solvent (e.g. benzene) in the presence of an alkali (e.g. pyridine) at 0-30°C for 3-5hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
