| abstract | PURPOSE: To uniformly wash and sterilize a food at the same time and to improve workability by adding a material to be cleaned to a water storage tank charged with high-temperature water and then sterilizing the material while spraying high-temperature steam. n CONSTITUTION: Vegetables W sent from a feed opening 22 to a cleaning path 2 is transported to an outlet 23 side while being promoted by flow of high- temperature water, washed during transportation while being sprayed with foams of high-temperature steam jetted from the bottom and sterilized by high- temperature water H. In the operation, the vegetables W are washed while being exposed to foams from the lower part and the washing is carried out in the interior of the cleaning path 2, a controlled zone so that the vegetables W can be concentrically and efficiently exposed to foams to provide sufficient washing effects and to carry out washing sufficiently by taking advantage of foams.
