abstract PURPOSE: To improve a degree of freedom to install an engine by forming a ceiling part of a water jacket so as to become gradually higher toward the center of transverse section, and arranging a cooling water oulet port in correspondence with the top of the ceiling part. n CONSTITUTION: A ceiling part 49 of a water jacket 34, 35 has a projection of becoming gradually higher toward the center of transverse section viewed from an axial direction of a crankshaft, and a cooling water outlet port 39 is formed corresponding to the top of the ceiling part 49. Even when an engine 8 is installed on a vehicle body with an inclined angle of some degrees, the ceiling part 49 can be therefore held gradually higher toward the outlet port 39. Consequently, incoming air into the water jacket 34, 35 is converyed along the surface of the ceiling part 49 and discharged through the outlet port 39. Air residence in the water jacket 34, 35 is thus avoided and decrease in cooling efficiency of the engine 8 is prevented. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
